THE Witney branch of Freecycle - an Internet-based practice of giving away unwanted items - celebrated its first birthday.
By logging on to the local website, members can advertise items they no longer want, or request items being advertised.
Everything offered is free.
Sue Hall, from Poffley End, who founded the Witney group last year, said: "It has been really exciting to see the group grow, and to watch the amount of items that we are keeping away from the dump.
"I had an old pine door, which is now starting life all over again in a cottage in Kelmscott, which is being renovated. I would have hated to just throw it away."
The Witney branch has 880 members.
Freecycle.org was launched in 2003 in Arizona.
It has more than a million members in 50 countries.
