BOTTLED water is being handed out in Clanfield, after residents complained about discoloured tap water.
Thames Water has stressed that tap water is safe to drink after the water supply was tested, but people have been given access to free bottled water if they feel uncomfortable drinking the murky water from their taps.
One Clanfield resident, who did not want to be identified, said: "I rang Thames Water and was told that the had been some contamination of the water supply - but when I spoke to my neighbours they didn't know anything about it.
"I would have thought a company the size of Thames Water could have used megaphones to make sure everyone knew what was going on."
Thames Water spokesman, Hilary Bennett, said: "The water has been tested and it is safe.
"But we have made bottled water available outside the Plough pub for people who do not feel they can drink the water."
Thames Water received ten calls from customers in the village complaining about the dirty water.
