Concert raises more money than expected

The charity concert for Oxjam, staged by Vital Recitals at St Mary's Church, Witney, raised almost three times as much money as they expected, thanks to the Witney Gazette.

Organizer, John Bingley, said that the group of friends had aimed to raise £120, but ended up with £322, which was due to the good-sized audience.

He said: "We handed out a questionnaire at the door to find out how our audience heard about the concert, and were delighted to discover that the Witney Gazette came top of the list."

Vital Recitals' next concert will be in April 2007, when they will be promoting Musicians Alliance for Peace.
