Witney moved up to third in the men’s Regional Division 2, thanks to a 6-2 thrashing of Amersham & Chalfont.

Ben Wells bagged a four-timer, with goals from Dan Andrews and skipper Tim Hardy sealing the rout.

Witney 2nd got back to winning ways with a 3-2 home success over table-toppers Maidenhead in MBB&O Division 4.

Patrick Button and Andy Birnie were on target for Witney 3rd as they kept up their unbeaten run with a 2-0 win at Division 6 basement boys Oxford 7th.

Witney 4th stayed adrift at the foot of Division 8 as they crashed to a 10-1 loss to Aylesbury 4th. Craig Sum-mers scored for Witney.

Witney ladies went down to a 2-1 defeat at Eastcote 2nd in Division South 3A.

The visitors started the stronger, so it was against the run of play they went behind.

Just after the break the hosts doubled their lead.

However, Witney did not let their heads drop and their efforts paid off when captain Katie Gatt lashed home from a penalty corner.

They forced a succession of corners, but were unable to find an equaliser.

At the other end, their keeper Sam Ayres made a number of great saves.
