Curtly Slatter won the under 17 boys’ player-of-the-year award for the second year in a row at the Oxfordshire Cricket Board’s annual youth presentation night at Hawkwell House in Oxford.

Slatter, who plays for Great & Little Tew, collected his award from Jack Brooks, the former Tiddington and Oxford seamer, who has recently signed for Yorkshire after a spell with Northants.

Oxon’s Under 17s enjoyed their most successful season since 2006, winning their age group by a massive 40 points.

The awards completed a great season for Slatter who blasted an unbeaten half-century as Great & Little Tew were crowned Oxfordshire under 17 champions. Slatter’s 58 not out led his side to an eight-wicket win over Aston Rowant at Horspath to pick up the Honey-B Trophy. Shipton-under-Wych-wood’s Joe Barrett was named the team’s players’ player of the year.
