BRETT Ormerod feels Oxford United are fortunate to still be in the FA Cup after watching their first round tie at Gateshead.
The Wrexham striker, who played in the Premier League for Southampton and Blackpool, is fit again after recovering from a hip injury.
And the 39-year-old felt United’s 1-0 extra-time win was harsh on the hosts.
“I watched the game and thought Gateshead absolutely dominated it for pretty much the whole time,” he told the Daily Post.
“I thought Oxford really rode their luck and when you consider they are at the top of League Two and Gateshead are mid-table in the Conference, I think any neutral would have believed Gateshead to be highest in the pecking order.”
However, it does not mean Ormerod is expecting an easy ride tonight.
He said: “They will be very tough opponents because, they are flying in their league, but it’s one we are obviously looking forward to.
“We’ll be the underdogs and we can expect them to put us under some pressure.
“If we are beaten it will not be seen as a shock, but if the boot is on the other foot it would be seen as a scalp for us so that’s the pressure they will be under.”
