Chipping Norton failed to cope with the attacking instincts of Bicester as they lost 36-8 in Saturday’sderby clash at Oxford Road in Bucks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division.

Having seen a four-match winning run ended the previous week, two tries from No 8 Dan Spencer helped Bicester back on track.

Hooker Jake Holdsworth broke two tackles to score the hosts’ opening try, converted by scrum half Steve Risbridger.

Former Bicester fly half James Blake reduced the arrears for Chippy with a penalty.

Tries from prop Dave Behan, who was later sin-binned, Spencer, and replacement Oscar Page – with his first for Bicester – plus two Risbridger conversions, made it 26-3.

Flanker Tom Phillips went over for Chippy, but tries from centre Chris Harley and Spencer wrapped it up for Bicester.

Meanwhile, two tries from James Monks helped Witney ease to a 25-6 win at Newbury in South West 1 East.

Newbury trailed just 10-6 at one point, with Richard West slotting two penalties.

Matt Clarke and James Burke also went over for Witney, with Henry Lamb kicking a penalty and a conversion.
