Tower Hill Ladies had to settle for a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 at Milton Keynes City in the Southern Region Women’s League on Sunday.

Playing into the wind and uphill in the first half, Tower started strongly and should have gone ahead in the first half when Ellen Hopkins’s pass released Samantha Bevan-Talbot, who ran through on goal, only to shoot wide.

The visitors dominated after the break, but didn’t take their chances.

However, they kept going forward and were rewarded for their persistence with the opener ten minutes from time.

Milton Keynes failed to clear a cross and in the ensuing scramble, Lisa Freeman fired in at the far post.

But they were rocked when Milton Keynes were awarded a penalty for shirt-pulling, Laura Geyton putting the resulting penalty past Mel Gilbert in the Tower Hill goal.

Tower Hill are next in action on Sunday, March 9, when they host Fleetlands (KO 2pm).
