Great & Little Tew captain Andy Harris pipped clubmate Harry Smith to a player-of-the-season title in Australia.
Seamer Harris won the Cricket North West First Grade Player of the Year award after impressing for Tasmanian club Burnie Hurricanes, for whom he took 10-32 against Sheffield Mountaineers before Christmas.
Batsman Smith, whose side Ulverstone won the grand final against Sheffield, finished in second place.
“This is worked out by the umpires voting players after each game,” said Harris.
“Both Harry and I were tied on 14 votes and I managed to pick up one vote in the last game to win it with 15 votes.”
Harris was also Burnie’s player of the year and leading wicket-taker with 35 and scored 227 runs at an average of 19.
Smith was selected in the team of the year and scored 568 runs at an average of 38.
