Young disabled people in West Oxfordshire have been given the chance to become more involved in sport, thanks to a new scheme.

The local council are running inclusive football training for free as part of a pilot project.

Sessions for 12 to 16-year-olds, which are led by an Oxfordshire Football Association qualified coach, will start on Saturday, April 26 as part of the West Oxfordshire District Council’s initiative.

They will be held on the artificial turf pitch in Carterton’s Upavon Way every week until July 19 (excluding May 10) from 10.30-11.30am.

The scheme is backed by Witney’s Tower Hill Football Club and the district Council’s leisure contractor, Better.

If the project proves a success, Tower Hill are planning to enter a team in the BOBI (Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Inclusive) Under 16 League.

Contact the council’s leisure team on 01993 861080 for more details.
