Witney Angels clinched the Women’s National Confer-ence South East West 2 with a 27-5 win over Marlow at Hailey Road.
The first half proved a tight affair and it wasn’t until just before half time that Witney exploited a large blindside for flanker Lauren Tracey to finish in the corner for an unconverted try.
Angels started the second half strongly and their pressure paid off when Lou Grey went over for a converted try.
However, a mistake at the back of a scrum saw Marlow cut Witney’s lead with an unconverted try.
Witney hit back when back row forward Emma Patterson scored an unconverted try in the corner following some slick handling.
Prolific winger Liz Spicer burst down the left flank before handing off her opposite number and crashing over the line for an unconverted score.
Witney continued to hound the Marlow line and a break though the centre saw fly half Jess Patterson pick up a bobbling pass and score the final try of the game.
Angels’ delighted coach Dan Godfrey said: “The girls have been awesome all season and deserve this.”
