Great & Little Tew proved too strong for Cropredy as they sealed a six-wicket victory in the second round of the Davidstow Village Cup on Sunday.

They now face the winners of the Shipton-under-Wychwood v Oxford Downs tie which was postponed due to wet weather.

Tew got off to a good start with Robin Shurmer bowling Cropredy’s opener Jamie Jennings for two with the score on 18.

Ed Somerton and Joe Fox put together a partnership of 18 before the latter was caught by Joe White off Ian Bryan.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, Andy Harris finishing with 3-9 and Bryan 3-20 as the hosts were dismissed for 87 in 36 overs.

Tew lost openers White and Harry Smith with 18 on the board, Andy Morby, who finished with 4-39, doing the damage.

Robbie Catling and Curtly Slatter then put together a stand of 20 before the former was dismissed by Morby to leave Tew at 36-3.

Slatter was joined by Ashley Hubbert as the pair put on a third-wicket stand of 44 seeing their side to the brink of victory.

After Morby bowled Slatter for 38, Hulbert and Markus Jeacock steered Tew to the victory target in just 16.1 overs.
