Romain Grosjean had a weekend to forget at Sunday’s German Grand Prix.

The Frenchman was forced to retire from the race on the 26th lap due to problems with the car’s cooling system.

“Our overall pace was quite good,” said a disappointed Grosjean.

“I suffered from a loss of power due to an issue with our cooling system so was asked to switch off the car.

“It’s such a shame as we were on a different strategy to our rivals so we looked like we could be on course for scoring points.

“Sometimes that’s how it goes in motor racing.”

Teammate Pastor Maldonado equalled his season-best finish of twelfth after starting on the grid in 19th place.

Meanwhile, Jordan Albert secured a seventh place in the latest round of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship at a rain-hit Oulton Park on Saturday.

A hat-trick of points finishes in the three races saw the driver from the Chipping Norton-based Sean Walkinshaw Racing team climb into the top 12 of the drivers’ standings.

Teammate Diego Borrelli took a best place of eighth after charging up the grid from 20th, while Nicolas Beer captured a top-eight place, hoisting him up two places in the standings into 13th.

The series resumes at Silverstone on the weekend of August 16-17.
