OXFORD United have strengthened their attacking options by signing Junior Brown on a 12-month deal.

The 25-year-old winger agreed to terminate his contract at Fleetwood Town and drove south earlier today, passing a medical this evening.

Brown, who can play on either flank, also provides cover at left back.

U's boss Michael Appleton said: "Junior is fast and direct and has an eye for goal.

"He is a player who I think will excite the fans and he will give us balance on that left hand side."

Brown came through the youth system at Crewe Alexandra, before moving to Fleetwood in 2010.

He was part of the Cod Army side which won the Conference in the 2011-12 campaign and made 21 appearances in League Two last season.

But after falling down the pecking order at Highbury, he missed out on the run-in as Fleetwood won automatic promotion, moving on loan to Tranmere Rovers.

A good signing.

The fans will enjoy watching him
on the wing but can also play as a left back.

IF we get in a hard decent striker I might just a few quid on us!
Like what Mapp is doing at Grenoble Road.

Definitely a good addition. We failed last season on fast supply and consistent scoring. This is a big step in the right direction for supply. Exciting times. Decent, consistent Striker next please. Darius Vassel worth a punt?

Happy with the recent addition, pace and the ability to get the ball in the box. Again an area that needed strengthening, the side is started to take shape and if i'm honest looking fairly good.

Now for a couple of strikers and last season negative end to the season will be a distant memory. Please lets have one decent striker in before the first game though, Hylton can't do it all on his own.

PS, all the negative OUFC fans out there, just remember what it was like 6 weeks ago under the old regime, at least now we have hope and are playing some decent football.

It looks as though Vassell hasn't played or even had a club since being released by Leicester following a cruciate ligament injury 2 years ago so he probably isn't up to it any more, even at our level, or he would have been playing somewhere or other in the meantime.
