WITNEY’S Janette Cardy won silver for Great Britain at the World Aquathlon Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
The 43-year-old was first out the swim, but was overtaken on the last kilometre of the run by elite full-time American athlete Julianna Batizy-Morley, who pipped her by 11 seconds.
It continued a good year for Cardy after she won gold at the European Championships in Germany.
Her success is even more remarkable as only three years ago she suffered a stroke and had her thyroid removed.
