Michael Collins says Oxford United should put themselves under pressure in a bid to claim their first win of the league season tonight.

The U’s sit third bottom in Sky Bet League Two table after seven games ahead of Accrington Stanley’s visit to the Kassam Stadium.

And Collins is adamant the wait will end this evening.

He said: “I’ve said a few times that once we get those first three points I’m confident we will go on and start picking up a lot more.

“The key is we get a win on the board (tonight).

“If that’s me putting us under a bit of pressure then so be it, because three points has to be the thing we have to take away from the game.”

New signing Brian Howard is in line for a debut, while striker Tyrone Barnett should have his first home outing.

But no-one knows for sure if they are playing, with head coach Michael Appleton breaking from his normal game plan.

He said: “So as far as I’m concerned, nobody’s shirt is safe and I’ve said that to the players.

“We certainly won’t be picking the team the day before the game, so the players will be well and truly kept on their toes.”

With no injury concerns, Accrington caretaker-boss Paul Stephenson could name an unchanged side from Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to AFC Wimbledon.
