Henry Lamb kicked Witney to a 12-5 victory at Reading in South West 1 East.

The fly half landed four penalties as Witney recovered from 5-0 down to record their third win of the season.

Reading missed two early penalties before lock Charlie Davies crashed over for the opening try.

Lamb’s first penalty redu-ced the arrears on 17 minutes after good work from flanker Stuart Catherall.

Witney had full back James Monks sin-binned for a late tackle, while a third Reading penalty hit a post.

Centre Carl Strutt was held up for Witney, but Lamb’s penalty gave them a 6-5 half-time lead.

More Witney pressure for-ced a kickable penalty after the break, with Lamb doing the rest.

Reading were denied a likely interception try due to being offside at a ruck.

Lock Richard Haire and Monks went close before Reading’s Shaun Collins was yellow-carded for a late tackle on Witney’s Arron Lambo-urne.

Monks was stopped five metres short on 66 minutes, but Reading were penalised, with prop Ricky Willcock sin-binned and Lamb slotting the three points.

Reading pressed at the end, but Witney held on.

Meanwhile, Witney’s under 14s are looking for new members as they seek to build on last season’s success.

The team, who are now sponsored by Witney’s Shaan restaurant, won last year’s Oxfordshire Under 13 Plate.

They play and train on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Chipping Norton were thumped 32-5 at Wheatley in BB& O Premier Division.

From the first whistle, Wheatley powered up the pitch and earned a penalty, which Duncan Dingle kicked.

Tries followed from Dan Rule, Luke Agius, Adam Muir, Andy Tippett, and Peter Knipe, while Chippy got a score in the second half.
