Chipping Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw claimed a points double in the latest rounds of the EuroFormula Open season in Monza at the weekend.
In Saturday’s race, the Campos Racing driver avoided a costly tangle with teammate Alex Palou on the opening lap to slice his way through into seventh.
Walkinshaw slipped to ninth, but mounted a swift recovery to come home sixth.
Starting 15th on the grid for Sunday’s race, he slipped back a couple of places before charging back up to 11th, before finishing in ninth after Yu Kanamaru crashed out.
Elsewhere, Dave Messenger took a fine fifth-placed finish in the 12th round of the Alfa Romeo Championship at Rockingham Raceway.
The Eynsham driver was forced to start from the back of the grid after suffering from mechanical difficulties, but came through the field in Class E.
Tom Herbert won the race, closely followed by James Bishop, who secured the championship.
