South American driver Fernando Urrutia will make his UK racing debut with the SWR Caterham F1 Driver Development Programme Team in this year’s BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series.
He will partner Jordan Albert at the Chipping Norton squad for the eight race championship, which begins on November 8-9 at Snetterton in Norfolk.
Winning the Easy Kart Championship in 2008, Urrutia went on to triumph in the Cuautla Championship in 2010 and was selected to represent the State of Morelos in the ‘Mexican Heading to F1’ racing programme.
“In European competition the best drivers are produced and that’s why we’re going to the UK”, said Urrutia. “I hope to become a worthy representative of Mexico.”
