Chadlington’s Callum Mitchell is to be presented with one of the Royal Yachting Association’s most prestigious awards by HRH the Princess Royal.
The 17-year-old is to receive the honour in recognition of his commitment to Oxford Sailing Club at the organisation’s annual awards ceremony in London on Friday.
The Princess Royal will make the presentation to Mitchell in her role as RYA president.
It comes after the teenager was nominated for a youth award by his club.
Mitchell said: “I was very surprised when I found out I’d been nominated as I’ve always enjoyed it and it’s not felt like work, so I’m humbled to be recognised in this way.
“I’m greatly looking forward to the awards day and meeting everyone else.”
