Witney were celebrating after winning the final round of the National Arena League Division 2 at the town’s Windrush Leisure Centre.

The hosts held off four other teams to claim overall victory by ten points.

Twelve-year-old Georgia Duff, led the way for Witney.

She won the ladies open 200m individual medley and the 100m butterfly in the 13 & under class, setting a personal best.

Duff completed a superb display by finishing runner-up in the 100m breaststroke, to earn her the team’s swimmer of the match award.

Sasha Paterson-Payne, 11, was runner-up for her wins in the 11& under 50m breaststroke and butterfly, plus her storming swims in the relay.

Billy Wotton, who is also 11, triumphed in the 11 & under 50m breaststroke.

He was third in the 50m frontcrawl (a personal best) to become fellow runner-up along with Rhiannon Saunders, 13, for her storming win in the 13 & under 100m backstroke.

There were also wins for Luke Keenan, in the 13 & under 100m breaststroke and Ben Prosser in the 15 & under 100m backstroke.

There was a clean sweep of victories in the relays from the 13 & under girls team of Saunders, Browne, Young, Duff, Paterson-Payne and 15 & under boys Prosser, Hird, Hatton and Kinahan.

Gala result: 1 Witney 184pts, 2 Flitwick 174, 3 Derby Phoenix 149, 4 Kingsbury 131, 5 Tewksbury 109.
