Freeland moved further away from the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division relegation zone with a 3-1 victory at basement boys Bletchingdon on Saturday.

After a cagey start from both sides, the visitors took the lead through Craig Wood’s header.

The lead was shortly doubled when George Seacole scored a penalty.

After the break, Bletchingdon came back into the contest and reduced the deficit through Joe Barrett.

However, their hopes of a revival ended when Jefferson Harriott sealed victory with Freeland’s third goal.

Tom Gerken hammered a hat-trick as Freeland Res came back from a goal down to win 3-1 at Eynsham Res in Division 2.

The hosts went ahead with a great finish from Neil Hobday.

Gerken scored the first of his treble to level it up before half-time.

They continued their dominance into the second half with Gerken firing Freeland into the lead.

And the comeback was completed when Gerken wrapped-up his hat-trick with a spot-kick.

Yarnton Res went down to a 5-1 defeat at home to Oxford University Press Res.

The hosts started slowly and paid a heavy price when OUP charged into a 2-0 lead in the opening ten minutes.

And it got worse for Yarnton when the visitors made it 3-0 on 20 minutes.

OUP kept up the pressure after the break as they surged into a 5-0 advantage.

Substitute Michael Trafford clawed one back, but it was too late.

Adam Walsh, with a treble, and Danny Clarke, who bagged a brace, did the damage for OUP.

A goal from Sebastian White was in vain as Standlake Garage went down to a 3-1 loss at Sutton Wanderers in Division 2 of the Critchleys Upper Thames Valley League on Sunday.

Chris Stringer (2) and Arran Colley netted for the hosts.
