Chipping Norton racehorse trainer Charlie Longsdon continued his rich vein of form by making it three winners on the bounce with Pied Du Roi’s Towcester triumph on Monday.

The five-year-old’s success in a twomile handicap hurdle under Daryl Jacob came the day after Zarawai and Promanco had given Longsdon a 16-1 across-the-card double at Plumpton and Ludlow respectively.

Pied Du Roi’s win came at the ninth attempt as he pulled clear up the hill after the last flight to beat Simple Assignment by two lengths at 8-1.

SEAN King’s 7-52 proved in vain for Hailey, who lost by 93 runs at home to Marcham in OCA League Division 4.

Hailey restricted the visitors to 151 all out, but then collapsed to 58 all out as Andrew Chalmers took 5-27.

Tom Julian’s unbeaten century helped Swinbrook to a 93-run win away to Deddington.

Julian (111no) saw Swinbrook to 240-5, before veteran Andrew Wingfield Digby took 3-17 and Nigel White 3-44 as the hosts fell to 147 all out.

Andy Oliver top-scored with 97 not out to steer Kidlington to 197-5 at home to Kilkenny.

The target proved way beyond the visitors, who were shot out for 100 as Tom Bozman took 4-15 and Edd Wilmot 4-23.

Stanton Harcourt saw off Dorchester by 49 runs.

Batting first, Stanton posted 186-9, Louis Pettifer top-scoring with 44, while Lawrence Belcher took 5-35.

Dorchester were dismissed for 137, Ollie Pascoe taking 4-24.

Andy Radcliffe’s 77 led Uffington to a four-wicket victory at home to Britwell Salome.

In Division 5, Sunningwell are the early leaders after they thumped West Witney by 128 runs.

Having posted 185 all out, they skittled their visitors for 57 as Andy Claydon took 4-15.

Longsdon will now give the gelding a break, with the ultimate plan to go chasing with him.

Zarawi, running for the 11th time, is set to be kept on the go after breaking his duck at Plumpton.

The 7-2 favourite drew clear from the second-last flight in a two-mile handicap hurdle to slam Lindsay’s Dream by ten lengths under Aidan Coleman.

Longsdon said of the four-year-old: “It has taken him six months to get the hang of things, but he did it well in the end.

“Admittedly it was a very poor race, but he could only beat the opposition as well as he did.”

Promanco was also striking for the first time when scoring at the fifth attempt.

Richard Johnson was in the saddle as the 11-4 chance raced away to beat Ballykan by seven lengths in a novices’ hurdle over two miles and five furlongs.

The six-year-old mare had been given a wind operation since her last run, and Longsdon said: “She has had plenty of problems over the last couple of years, so it was great to see her finally come good.”

Meanwhile, Longsdon’s landlords, Chris and Fran Marriott, were among the winners with Dabinett Moon at the Kimblewick Hunt point-to-point meeting at Kingston Blount, near Chinnor, on Saturday.

The seven-year-old mare was scoring for the fourth time this season when landing the intermediate race by three lengths from Po Valley under Claire Hart.

“Wasn’t she a good girl today?” said delighted trainer Fran of the 5-2 shot.

Dabinett Moon could now go for the Subaru Restricted Series Final at Stratford on Friday, May 29.
