GREAT & Little Tew 2nd inflicted a first defeat of the season on Cherwell League Division 2 leaders Horspath 2nd in a comfortable five-wicket victory.

Lloyd Brock took 5-52 and Ian Bryan 4-32 to help dismiss Horspath for 171, Akheam Fox top-scoring with 40.

Tew wasted little time in surpassing their target, reaching 175-5 in the 29th over, Curtly Slatter hitting 49 and Brock 47 not out.

Sandford St Martin were beaten by 74 runs at home to high-flying Aston Rowant 2nd.

The visitors were bowled out for 194, as Alex Jewell hit 53 and Simon Smith took 4-36.

But a fine spell from Andrew Dyer (4-41) and Tom Needham (3-24) ensured Sandford were never in the hunt, falling to 120.

Oxford Downs moved up to fourth in the table with a fivewicket win at Bledlow Village, which all but condemned their hosts to relegation.

Will Woodward’s magnificent 116 allowed Bledlow to declare on 268-8, with Johnny Law claiming 4-56.

Downs then put in a tremendous run chase, reaching 269-5 with almost five overs to spare, Will Watts scoring 68, Wasim Mehmood 65 and Amin Rafiq 57.

Oxford Downs 2nd are dangerously close to the Division 3 relegation zone following their four-wicket defeat by Horley.

Darren De Bruyn took 4-30 as Downs were shot out for 132 in their 53 overs, before Dave Clark’s 47 saw Horley to 133-6.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd were undone by a phenomenal display from Jacob Heath to send them to an eight-wicket defeat to champions Cropredy.

Heath took sensational figures of 8-34 as Shipton were dismissed for just 68, which Cropredy surpassed in just 22 overs at the cost of only two wickets.

Dan Swindells smashed another huge century for Witney Mills, but finished on the losing side as they fell to a six-wicket defeat at Division 4 leaders Great Brickhill 2nd.

Swindells bludgeoned 135 in Mills’s 268-7, but 76 from Greg MacDonald and 75 from Jilesh Pattni led Brickhill to 269-4.
