YEOVIL Town will head to the Kassam Stadium in a very different mood after claiming their first win of the season.

The Glovers lost their opening four games in all competitions, before coming from two goals down to beat Luton Town 3-2 last Saturday.

Manager Paul Sturrock, who deployed a 4-3-3 system for the first time and dropped target man Mark Beck, has seen the result boost his side.

The Scot told the Western Gazette: “When people are lacking in confidence they do silly things.

“Too many long balls were being played up front and our midfield was disappointing.

“So we had a different style of play and the players were more adaptable.

“I think we’ll have to stick by it now.

“If we play like that we’ll win more than we lose.”

The former Plymouth Argyle and Southend United boss rates Oxford United highly, though.

He said: “It’s an away match against one of the top teams in the league.

“They’re a strong team and have some very good players.

“Their forwards look like they’ve got some goals in them as well.

“But the players have got to take some confidence from last week, so I’m looking forward to it.”
