RORY Heaslip earned Witney a 1-1 draw in their South League Middlesex Berks Bucks & Oxon Division 1 opener at Tring.
After a scrappy start, Witney goalkeeper Craig Simms was called into action on a number of occasions, before he was finally beaten.
Witney were temporarily reduced to ten men when Fraser Barnard was shown a yellow card.
But the visitors got their equaliser when good play between Thomas Dobson and Andy James led to Heaslip finding the back of the net.
Despite piling on the pressure, they were unable to find the crucial second goal.
Other scores: Witney 2nd 3 (W Briggs 2, J Austin), Phoenix 2nd 2; Windsor 7, Witney 3rd 2 (J Taylor 2).
