JOLYON Palmer is aiming to bounce back quickly from his nightmare in Shanghai when the Formula 1 season moves on to Russia this weekend.

The 25-year-old, who drives for the Enstone-based Renault team, finished last in China, while teammate Kevin Magnussen was 17th.

It means they head to Sochi still looking for the first point of the season and Palmer hopes lessons have been learned.

He said: "It was certainly a weekend where we struggled so we’re doing everything to understand why.

"We’ve made good progress and what we can achieve is certainly better than what we saw in Shanghai."

SEAN Walkinshaw stormed through the field at Monza before late issues saw his Nissan GT Academy Team finish 12th in class at the opening round of the Blancpain Endurance Cup season.

The Chipping Norton driver climbed from 37th on the grid to 13th a third of the way into the three-hour race.

But teammate Romain Sarazin was penalised for speeding in the pit lane, before Matt Simmons lost ground with a spin.
