GREAT & Little Tew were brought down to earth after making a dream start to their match away to powerful Henley on Saturday.

Making their debut in Division 1 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League after promotion last year, Tew capture two early wickets.

But in the end they slipped to a 122-run defeat in this 50-overs limited overs affair.

Tew’s decision to insert Henley started well as Matt Woods dismissed both openers with only three runs on the board.

However, the hosts showed their strength in depth with a century from Richard Morris, whose 134 off 125 balls included six sixes, flayed the rest of the attack.

With good support from Michael Roberts and Ziafat Ali, whose unbeaten 84 came off 64 balls, Henley recovered to 308-6. Woods finished with 4-45,

Tew lost Joe White run out early on as they slumped to 36-3.

However, a positive 47 from Australian all-rounder Dain Moreton and an unbeaten 68 from Lloyd Brock brought respectability to their innings, although their total of 186 from 44.5 overs left them well short.

But Tew had to be content with six points from the encounter.

Meanwhile, Shipton-under-Wychwood could not press home a winning position as they lost by three wickets to Buckingham Town in Division 2.

Craig Wood (63) helped Shipton recover from 92-6 to 190 all out in 49.2 overs, after they were put in to bat.

Wood batted 83 balls and hit six fours before being run out in the last over.

Buckingham then slumped to 93-6, the wickets being shared around, but an unbeaten 55 from Jack Parish guided them home with 5.4 overs to spare.
