GREAT & Little Tew made their mark in Division 1 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League in only their second match with a decisive four-wicket victory at home to Reading on Saturday.

Three-wicket spells from Lawrence Brock and Joe Thomas, plus a fluent half-century by Joe White, paved the way for newly-promoted Tew’s notable success.

The hosts had no immediate joy on winning the toss and inserting Reading, who put on 51 for the first wicket.

But Lawrence Brock’s spell changed all that, reducing the visitors to 61-3.

Thomas kept it tight with 3-15 in ten overs, including the wicket of opener Tom Fray.

Only a half-century from Ian Slatcher and a frustrating last-wicket stand of 25 lifted Reading to 194 all out.

White gave Tew a flying start to their reply, hitting two sixes and nine fours in his 67 off 66 balls.

Jack Beaven kept Reading in the game with three wickets to leave Tew on 132-5.

But a positive sixth-wicket stand between Lloyd Brock and Ashley Hubbert eased the way to victory, which came with than ten overs to spare.
