WITNEY Mills were comprehensively thrashed by nine wickets at the hands of Bicester & North Oxford in Cherwell League Division 4.

After being put in to bat, Mills quickly found themselves in trouble as they lost openers Ross Morgan and Liam Hare cheaply.

Only Pete Claridge, batting at No 3, managed to get into double figures as he scored a laboured 21 in 97 balls, with Mills struggling to 69 all out in just 37.1 overs.

Bicester & North Oxford needed just 17 overs to seal victory as Nick Moorman hit 22 not out and Haris Naeem 21 as they finished on 71-1.

Oxford Downs stayed in touch with the leaders in Division 2 after an easy seven-wicket win at home to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

Harry Sutton claimed 4-48 for the hosts as Nondies were dismissed for 146, and Frankie Crouch (57) and George Sandbach (41) then shone in Downs’ reply, easing them home at 149-3.

Oliver Ong took five wickets to help Sandford St Martin to a six-wicket win at home to Buckingham Town 2nd.

Ong’s 5-35 and Chris Thompson’s 3-24 condemned the visitors to 127 all out in 48 overs, and then Thompson scored 37 not out to lead Sandford to 130-4 in the 39th over.

Great & Little Tew 2nd fell to a 94-run defeat at home to Abingdon Vale.

Winning the toss, the home side put Vale in first, and they posted 186-8 in 51 overs, Matthew Warner taking 5-46 for Tew.

But the home side were no match for spinners Paul White (4-23) and Jonathan Jenkinson (3-28) as they crashed to 92 all out in their reply.

Oxford Downs 2nd’s struggles in Division 3 continued as they were hammered by 229 runs at Horley.

The home side racked up 296-7 declared, led by Dave Clark’s brilliant 103 and Dave Eaton’s 57 not out.

Downs were never in the hunt as they crashed to 67 all out, Pete Papenfus taking 5-18 and Adam Webb 5-42.

Witney Mills 2nd edged out visitors Tiddington 3rd by two wickets in Division 8.

David Mace took 6-30 as Mills dismissed Tiddington for 121, before James Harrison hit 30 to help Mills over the line at 122-8.
