BACK-to-back victories for Minster Lovell in a double-header weekend sent them to the top of OCA League Division 1 to set up a potential title showdown with Faringdon this Saturday.

Minster defeated hosts Yarnton & Cowley by eight wickets last Saturday, and then saw off Oxenford by five wickets on Sunday to move 13 points ahead of Faringdon.

On Saturday, Minster restricted Yarnton to 163-6, despite 64 from Waqas Ali.

Minster eased home at 164-2 led by Dave Prosper’s 49 not out.

At Oxenford, George French took 5-14 as Minster dismissed the hosts for just 90.

As rain loomed, Minster reached 91-5 with Graham hitting 40.

Faringdon maintained their own title bid with a five-wicket win at home to Chipping Norton.

Ben Marks took 5-21 and Ian Oglesby 3-14 as Chippy were shot out for 73.

Tim Wyatt’s unbeaten century saw Stonesfield to a nine-wicket win at Radley.

Wyatt hit 103 not out as Stonesfield eased to 168-1 after bowling their hosts out for 163.

In Division 2, Witney Swifts fell to a 38-run defeat at leaders Wolvercote.

Tom Stewart-Liberty top-scored with 50 in Wolvercote’s 208-7, before restricting Swifts to 170-8 in their reply.

Chadlington were on the receiving end as Tom Small smashed a brilliant 160 not out to help Cairns Fudge to an 80-run win.

In reply to Fudge’s 257-1, Richard Ingram’s 64 was the highlight of Chadlington’s reply, but they fell for 177.

In Division 3, Eynsham defeated visitors Stanton Harcourt by 73 runs on the Target Score method after rain to stay clear at the top. Ben Wagerfield struck 82 not out in Eynsham’s 207-5.

After a rain break, Stanton were restricted to 122-5 in pursuit of their reduced target of 195.

Hanborough beat visitors Fringford by three wickets.

Fringford were restricted to 158-8, John Bacon hitting 56 not out. Matthew Neilsen then struck 47 and Jack Buckingham 40 to see Hanborough home.

In Division 4, Swinbrook crashed to a 122-run defeat at home to Dorchester.

Adrian Redhead hit 103 not out and Steve McComb 87 in Dorchester’s innings of 200-1 dec, before Thom Airs claimed 4-37 as Swinbrook crashed to 88 all out.

In Division 5, Bampton lost their top-of-the-table clash at Brill by three wickets.

Tom Broughton took 4-28 and Andy Wynd 3-25 to help restrict Bampton to 137-9.

Wynd then hit 40 and Andy Parke 35 as Brill edged home at 138-7.

Chipping Norton 2nd slumped to just 40 all out as they lost by nine wickets to Garsington.

Hook Norton defeated hosts Charlbury 2nd by seven wickets.

After restricting Charlbury to 122-6, Adam Bennett (43no) and Laurence Grimes (35no) led Hooky to 123-3.

In Division 7, Ducklington closed in on the title with a crushing ten-wicket win at Yarnton & Cowley 2nd.

Jacob Hughes took 5-11 and George Townsend 3-8 to skittle Yarnton for just 41, and Ducklington then raced to 44-0.

Josh Bishop hit 68 not out to steer Kilkenny 2nd to a ten-wicket win at Minster Lovell 3rd, but a haul of 4-20 from Perry Tinson helped Witney Swifts 2nd to a seven-wicket success at home to Stonesfield 2nd.
