CHEY Dunkley says Oxford United’s back four have looked to take fewer risks on the ball in their past two games.

Success last season was built on an intention to build moves from the back and play out of trouble wherever possible.

But after several lapses in concentration saw United concede goals in Sky Bet League One during recent weeks, the approach has been tweaked.

Especially early on in the wins against Coventry City and Gillingham, there was a noticeable intention of moving the ball forward quickly.

Dunkley, who is rated as 50/50 to recover from a tight hamstring in time to face Scunthorpe United tomorrow, said: “For me, it’s a spontaneous game so you play how you play how it goes.

“But that is one of the things we spoke about – can we get it down the side of the centre halves with quality and can we play football in their half?

“That might have been more obvious since Saturday.

“We do get encouraged to play out when we can, but if we can play in the opposition’s half it’s better.”
