JOHN Brough has added to his North Leigh squad in a bid to cope with fixture congestion.

The Millers' fixture backlog in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West was exacerbated by the postponement of Saturday's home clash with Yate Town.

And with Brough's side scheduled to play twice a week for the next four weeks, the North Leigh boss has moved to pre-empt any strain on the playing squad with the addition of defender Will Wellon from Evesham United.

The move reunites Wellon with former central defensive partner Matt Sysum, who made the move to North Leigh in November.

"Those two were part of a very strong defence at Evesham in the last couple of years and kept a lot of clean sheets together," Brough said.

"It just gives us another option and more competition at the back.

"You never want to change a winning side, but when you have so many matches to play sometimes players just need a rest."

The Millers are exploring options for further reinforcements following their latest fixture setback.

Saturday's postponement left them with as many as five games in hand on sides above them.

And while a run of victories in those games could move North Leigh into the play-off positions, Brough was frustrated at yet another disruption to his side's momentum.

"We were disappointed we couldn’t play on Saturday, especially having won our last two games," he said.

"At home against another side towards the bottom of the table, we were hopeful of continuing our run.

"We were obviously all geared up for it, so it's frustrating."
