WITNEY confirmed their status as champions with a convincing 3-0 victory at Bicester in the South League.

With the Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1 title already in the bag, Witney recorded their 18th victory in 20 matches in style to go 11 points clear at the top.

However, they made a sluggish start against a Bicester side eager to overturn their derby rivals.

The visitors clung on for the first 20 minutes with Tom Dobson getting them out of trouble on numerous occasions, before they upped their workrate.

Tim Chilvers gave them the first-half lead by netting from two yards.

Witney dominated the second half, with Ben Moss causing them all sorts of problems down the right.

He and Francis Barnard set up a goal for Ryan Fitz-John before Jacob Deacon made the game safe with their third.

Witney Ladies threw away a 2-0 lead as they lost 3-2 at home to Henley in South Clubs League Division 3A.

Ellie Norton netted her first goal for the hosts, who made it 2-0 at the break thanks to Marie Vincent’s superb deflection into the top of the net.

Witney lost their heads after the break and conceded three soft goals to lose a game they should have won.
