OXFORD United need two goals in their final game of the season to reach three figures for the season in all competitions.

Sky Bet League One champions Sheffield United are the only team in England’s top four divisions to reach the total so far.

But the U’s, who have netted 98 times in their 61 league and cup games, have a chance to get there.

If they score twice at home to Shrewsbury Town it will be the second campaign in succession United have reached three figures.

Last season a 3-0 win on the final day of the season against Wycombe Wanderers, which clinched automatic promotion, took their tally to 107 from 59 games.

U’s boss Michael Appleton, who did not know they were close to the figure, said: “I am very well aware we have played more games than anyone else, but the reason for that is because we’ve been successful in all the competitions.”
