ROBERT Kubica’s bid to make a return to Formula 1 will take another step forward next week when he takes part in a testing session for Renault.
The Pole will drive the Enstone-prepared RS17 at the Hungaroring on August 2, following this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Kubica, who partially severed his right arm during a rallying accident in 2011, has already tested with the team.
He drove the Renault in Valencia last month and at Le Castallet in France a fortnight ago.
But Cyril Abiteboul, the team’s managing director, believes the results of the third outing will give a clear indication of whether Kubica could return to competitive racing.
He said: “The first two days of testing allowed both Robert and ourselves to gather a great amount of information.
“The upcoming session with the RS17 at the Hungaroring will allow us all to obtain detailed and precise data in a current car and representative conditions.
“After this test, we will carefully analyse the collected information to determine in what conditions it would be possible for Robert to return to competition in the upcoming years.”
