JOHN Lundstram’s move from Oxford United to Sheffield United has now been completed.

The fee is undisclosed for the midfielder, whose move to the Sky Bet League One champions has been on the cards for a week.

Lundstram was in the final year of his contract at United and is believed to have turned down several offers to extend his stay at the club.

But the 23-year-old has now signed a deal which will keep him at Bramall Lane until 2020.

Given the circumstances, Pep Clotet, United’s manager, is pleased with the level of the transfer fee.

He said: “John has been a big part of the club for the past two seasons and has always given his best.

"He is ambitious and had the chance to play in a higher division, and from our point of view, we tried our best to persuade him to stay.

"Having said this, we have received an attractive fee for a player who was entering the last year of his contract and this will allow further reinvestment to build squad quality and depth.

“He can certainly leave here with his head held high and we wish John the best of luck for the future.”

Lundstram, who joined United in August 2015, played a major role in the club’s automatic promotion from League Two in the 2015/16 campaign.

He was made captain last summer and made 102 appearances for the club.
