RYAN Lowe believes Bury have hit rock-bottom as he attempts to upset the odds with a win at Oxford United tomorrow.

The Shakers invested heavily during last summer, signing ex-U’s players Chris Maguire, Joe Skarz and Phil Edwards, but have endured a nightmare campaign.

Lee Clark was in charge when Bury beat the U’s 3-0 in September, but was sacked a month later.

Chris Lucketti replaced him, but the Shakers did not score in eight Sky Bet League One games and he left on Monday with the side 12 points from safety.

Lowe, who won two and drew two of six games in caretaker charge in November, has been given the reins until the end of the season.

The former striker is now looking for a reaction against United.

He said: “Trying to install belief into them has obviously been tough through the season because we are where we are for a reason.

“But it can’t get any worse, the only way is up.

“A lot of people are writing us off and thinking it’s going to be three points for the opposition.

“That’s not going to go down well with us.

“We will go there with a bit of fight, belief and spirit – we’re going there to win.”
