SCOTT Mortimer was the big winner at Witney’s awards night.

The second-row forward, who scored four tries in South West 1 East, scooped the player of the season and the players’ player accolade.

Former British and Irish Lions star John Bentley helped to hand out the awards and delivered a speech to the packed clubhouse at Hailey Road.

Tom Gaffney took the under 21 player of the season prize.

While Ben McPherson, Ashley Clinkard and Rob Goldman won the 2nd, 3rd and 4th XV honours.

Dan Webb collected the colt of the year accolade.

Meanwhile, Gareth Campbell has stepped down as first team captain and handed over the reins to Matt Clarke.

Witney are also running their annual sevens competition on Saturday, June 9.
