OXFORD United’s squad will be put through their paces by a new fitness coach today.
Damien Doyle has worked with boss Karl Robinson in the past, and also had dealings with several of the U’s
players.
He will operate alongside head of sports science Scott Daly in pre-season, with his first sessions taking place today.
And while Robinson is excited about his arrival, those who have experience of him are not looking forward to being reunited.
“John Mousinho, Scott Shearer, Rob Hall and Samir Carruthers know him, and when they were told he was coming in, their faces dropped,” United’s manager said.
“He is ruthless.
“Scott (Daly) is really good at what he does, but having this person to help him will be great for everybody.
“Pre-season is not just to get fit, but also to stop you getting injuries.
“There are so many different things we can do that will allow us to perform to the maximum of our ability.”
