JOEY Barton might know all the Oxford United coaching staff, but insists there will be no room for sentiment in the technical areas tomorrow.

The Fleetwood Town boss takes charge of an away game for the first time when his side visit the Kassam Stadium.

And although he will be pitting his wits against some familiar faces, Barton is fully focused on picking up his first points as a manager.

“I know Karl [Robinson], his brother Craig played with me in Everton’s youth team,” he told Fleetwood’s website.

“Shaun Derry is the assistant manager – he and Clint Hill (Fleetwood’s first team coach) were roommates at QPR.

“Derek Fazackerley was my first team coach at Man City when Kevin Keegan was there.

“I’ll tell you now there will be no niceties until after the game. Until then it’s business as usual.”

He added: “They also have Jamie Mackie who we know from our time at QPR – he’s really, really talented.”

United boss Robinson is expecting the visitors to come with a clear game plan.

And he believes Barton will gradually be able to put his stamp on the club.

“It’s Joey’s first job in management and he will be astute and intelligent in how he approaches it,” he said.

“But he will find his own way in management and his own identity he will put on his team and only time will tell what that is.

“For all the things you read about him, when you get to know him he’s one of those people you want to know more about.

“He’s just one of those characters.”
