Witney United overcame Highworth 2-0 at the Elms to move within four points of the leaders North Leigh, who visit Marriotts Stadium on Saturday.
The home side almost went in front when Dan Wallington's wind-assisted free-kick struck a post before being helped to safety by Vinny Byfield.
Witney had more attacking play, Kevin Lewis's snap-shot being held by Highworth keeper Ian Gill, and Andy Marriott being denied by Gill's fingertips.
Witney got the perfect start in the second half, taking the lead within three minutes.
Andrew Younie stole the ball from Andy Minturn, cut the ball back to Gary Wickens, who slotted into the bottom corner.
Younie created Witney's second on 59 minutes.
Lewis won the ball strongly in midfield before releasing Younie.
He cut in well, beating Wallington on the way, before his cross into the six-yard box was slotted home by Jimmy Griffin for his first goal for the club.
