CRICKET: Charlbury put to sword by Shallow

Charlbury became another victim of Tetsworth's Hyron Shallow as they slipped to a 136-run defeat in Division 1 on Saturday.

The West Indian star smashed 151 as Tetsworth rattled up a formidable 270 all out, despite Ashley Rump taking 4-17.

And in reply, Charlbury just could not get going as Rolando Wright (4-27) helped to restrict them to 134-8.

In Division 2, Eynsham went down to a five-wicket defeat at home to Garsington.

Eynsham posted 179-9, but it was not enough as Asif Shah (59no) steered Garsington to victory.

Freeland edged out Faringdon by nine runs.

They were thankful to Billy Webb, who hit 95 in a total of 238-4, Dave Ackland chipping in with 57 and Les Hole 53.

Hole shone with the ball as his 5-35 helped to restrict Faringdon to 229-8 in reply.

Witney Swifts fell to a 35-run defeat at Brill in Division 3.

The home side posted 222-9 as Rob Gascoigne hit 62.

Freddie Keys then claimed 5-18 from six overs as Swifts fell to 187 all out, Marc Stayte scoring 57.

In Division 4, young Robbie Nicholson was the star of the show as Combe eased to a seven-wicket victory over Charlbury 2nd.

Charlbury posted 186-9, before Nicholson hit 74 not out to steer his side to victory.

Hailey crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Britwell Salome, after being shot out for 76, while West Witney were beaten by five wickets against Westcott.

In Division 5, East Oxford 2nd overcame Minster Lovell 2nd by 121 runs.

Riswaan Abassi hit 83 in East Oxford's 255-8, before Minster were bowled out for 134, despite 58 from Ashley Hubbert.

Chadlington saw off Tetsworth 2nd by 22 runs.

Henry Bailey (55) saw Chadlington to 167-7, before Martin Shepherd claimed 3-22 as Tetsworth fell to 145 all out.

A half-century from veteran Richard Parker helped Swinbrook to a 100-run victory over Cass- ington.

Swinbrook were bowled out for 181, Chris Ashton taking 4-8. But Cassington were skittled for just 81 in reply, Karl Dickinson claiming 4-16 and Tom Yallop 4-26.

Pete Jones took 5-43 to help Eynsham 2nd to a one-wicket win at Wolvercote in Division 6.

The home side posted 178 all out thanks to 51 from David Gilham and Simon Burns. Alex Howells (65) steered Eynsham to victory.

Tom Tanswell took 5-18 as Chipping Norton beat Steventon by 35 runs in Division 7, while in Division 8, Kilkenny lost by four wickets against Marcham 2nd.

In Division 9, 75 from Tom Kellie saw Combe 2nd to a five-wicket victory over Uffington 2nd, while Durand Hotham score 66 as Chadlington 2nd eased to an 81-run victory over Witney Swifts 2nd.
