SWIMMING: Witney finish in third

Witney finished third in their opening event of the 2008-9 season in the Richard Early Cup gala at Windrush Leisure Centre.

With all the events comprising team relay races, it was no surprise that there were plenty of thrills, and there were many close finishes with fractions separating all competing teams.

There were encouraging displays from Witney in all age groups, but it was the boys' 15 & under squad, comprising Adam Colling, Nathan Harkin, Jack Kendall, Daniel Possee, and Conor Taylor, which really caught the eye, taking a clean sweep with their domination of the opposition in all five of their events.

Result: 1 Maxwell 164pts, 2 Ruislip-Northwood 157, 3 Witney 131, 4 Aylesbury 98, 5 Henley 56.
