WITNEY’S A and B teams came up against each other in the Home Counties League gala at Luton.

Although the A team cruised to victory, the B team managed to take a few scalps along the way.

Jake Cockroft, 12, took a double in the boys’ 13 & under breaststroke and freestyle to earn the A team swimmer-of-the-match award.

Tom McLean, 15, produced the swim of the night with a pb in the men’s 100m freestyle.

Despite posting the same time as the winner, he was given the runner-up slot by the judges, but still won the B team swimmer-of-the-match accolade.

Result: 1 Witney A 255pts, 2 Bicester 234, 3 Luton B 192, 4 Witney B 173, 5 Banbury 142.

Other winners: C Clavaud (IM), K Gorman (butterfly), I Pitson (breaststroke), A Whiteley (breaststroke), Y Speare (backstroke), T Ashton (freestyle), N Harkin (backstroke and freestyle), J Bark (butterfly), M Adair (backstroke), G Cable (IM and breaststroke), A Colling (breaststroke).
