WITNEY celebrated 35 years of competitive swimming in style at the Oxon & North Bucks County Champion-ships in Aylesbury.

For the second year running, the club’s 16 and under boys’ relay team were on top form.

First, Tom McLean, Scott Webster, Daniel Possee and Nathan Harkin took gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Harkin, McLean, Webster and Adam Colling took gold in the 4x50m medley relay.

To complete a notable trio, McLean, Possee, Harkin and Colling also combined for victory in the 4x50m freestyle – breaking the meeting record which had stood for 17 years.

There were also a number of gold medals in individual events, including McLean (50 and 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly), Webster (100m butterfly and 100m IM), Colling (50 & 100m breaststroke) and Harkin (100m IM and 200m breaststroke).

Yolanda Speare, 16, ach-ieved triple success as she won the 50m breaststroke and 100 and 200m backstroke, while ten-year-old Imogen Pitson took gold in the 50m breaststroke.

Witney’s nine and ten-year-old girls performed well in their relay events with Imogen Pitson, Phoebe Moss, Lauren Leese and Abigail Patrick taking bronze in the 4x50m freestyle relay.

Pitson, Moss, Patrick and Alex Parry won bronze in the 4x50m medley replay.
