WITNEY target rifle shooter Jason Buckingham (pictured) is looking forward to a successful year after being rewarded for an excellent 2010.
Buckingham beat off stiff competition from other local shooters to land the Oxfordshire Rifle Association’s ‘Otmoor Tankard’ for 2010.
The award is presented to the competitor who records the highest aggregate score with a service rifle at two meetings with targets shot at 400, 500 and 600 yards.
In addition to this, Buckinham also won the ORA’s ‘Volunteer Bowl’ for the second year in a row.
This was for winning the muzzle-loading rifle class.
And Buckingham only just missed out on even greater success at the national Rigby Cup.
The event, shot at 600 yards, saw him take third place competing against some of Europe’s best long-range muzzle-loading target rifle shooters.
Buckingham is hoping that 2011 will bring gold medals in the national competitions for muzzle-loading rifles.
