Witney Royals Res veteran Joe Crosbie is recovering in hospital after suffering a dislocated and broken ankle.

Crosbie suffered the injury on 79 minutes after catching his studs in the turf in the Witney & District FA Division 1 clash with Hanborough Res.

This week he had an operation to pin and plate the broken limb.

Royals were 2-1 up when the game was abandoned.

Brize Norton are the new leaders of Division 1 following a 3-0 win over FC Nomads, with goals from Paul Morrison, Gerard Morgan and Matt Howard.

Morning table-toppers Chipping Norton slipped to second after a 1-0 defeat by Ducklington Res, for whom Andy Jamieson scored.

Third-placed West Witney failed to capitalise on Chippy’s slip as they lost 3-2 to Stanton Harcourt.

Dan Hackett, David Cooper and George Woodcock all scored for Stanton, with Tony McLeman and Ian Sparkes netting for Witney.

Minster Lovell crushed Aston 5-2, thanks to goals from Ian Wright, Scott Thompson, Nathan Harris, Liam Crawford and Leo Haines.

Dan Long and Matt Brown replied for Aston.

Hailey’s Premier Division title charge suffered a big dent as they crashed to a 4-0 home defeat against mid-table Ducklington.

Damien Tolley, James Flemming, Craig Mays and Ian Peedle were on target.

The result allowed Han-borough to move level with Hailey on points – though they have played two more games than the leaders – after a 2-1 win over FC Chequers.

Jamie Kennedy netted a double, with Matt Thompson scoring the third and Matt Smith replying.

North Leigh edged to a 4-3 win against strugglers Charl-bury Town, thanks to goals from Jason Lonsdale (2), Will Smalden and Sam Duffey. Duncan Fitzgerald, Matt Smith and Andy Woodley netted for Charlbury.

Martin Cripps scored the winner in Spartan Rangers’ 1-0 success over Combe.

FC Chequers Res’ Division 2 promotion push was dented by a 1-1 draw against Middle Barton.

Tom Gonzales put the hosts ahead from the spot with Paul Kay equalising late on.

Ducklington A battled back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Freeland A 3-2 at home.

Darius Hodaei and Bruno Chaves gave the visitors a 2-0 cushion, only for goals from Tom Madden, David Duggan and Andrew Dury to complete the turnaround.

Title-chasing Milton crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Brize Norton Res, with Shaun Rawlings, Ollie Puddle and Steve Morgan on target.

Tackley boosted their chances of beating the drop from Division 3 with a 4-1 win against Kingham AB Res, with goals from Craig Broome (2), Ryan Wearing and Greg Finnemore.

Eynsham SSC closed the gap on leaders North Leigh B to three points by beating Chipping Norton Res 5-1, John Ayres hitting a hat-trick.

Matt Walker and Lewis Clarke got their others with Justin Morgan replying.

Kei Merrett smashed a four-timer as Carterton Pumas thrashed Witney Royals A 7-0.

Dean Matthews, Dan Chillinton and Mark Ben-stead completed the rout. Matt Townsend hit a treble in Spartan Rangers Res’ 7-1 win over Minster Lovell Res in Division 4. Nick Brown (2), Ben Allen and Tom Merchant got the others. Cody Davies replied.

A Mike Duerden strike earned Carterton A a 1-0 win against Carterton Ran-gers in the quarter-finals of the Fred Ford Cup.
