FOOTBALL: Big freeze kicks in

It was a weekend to forget as the wintry weather saw a host of sporting fixtures called off.

No football, rugby or hockey matches were played in the west Oxf-ordshire area.

In the only fixture to survive the freezing conditions, Wychwood Lad-ies beat Wokingham Ladies 2-1 in hockey’s Trysports Three Coun-ties League Division 1, thanks to strikes from Natalie Carpenter and Jane Goodman.

Witney Men’s 2nds lost 1-0 at West London in MBB&O Division 4 while Witney 4th were beaten 4-0 at Wokingham 3rd in Division 8.
