YOUTH FOOTBALL: Heap is the hero for Marlborough

Marlborough School, winners of the Oxfordshire Under 16 Schools’ Cup final show their delight after winning the competition
Captain Ryan Heap led by example with a double as Marlborough School, Wood-stock, lifted the Oxfordshire Under 16 Cup with a 3-0 win over Henry Box School, Witney, in the final at Roman Way, Oxford.
After controlling the opening exchanges, Marlborough opened the scoring with Heap on target.
The Woodstock lads continued to enjoy the upper hand, but were unable to add to their lead before half-time.
Henry Box put Marlbo-rough under sustained pressure for the first 20 minutes of the second half, but some excellent goalkeeping by Charlie Leach preserved his side’s lead.
Then, with 15 minutes left, Heap dribbled round the Henry Box keeper, and casually rolled the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Within two minutes, Con-nor Robbins sealed Marlbor-ough’s victory with a great strike.
